MINI-SYMPOSIA

Multiple Potential Energy Surfaces

Organized by Jinjun Liu (University of Louisville) and Chris Elles (University of Kansas)

This mini-symposium will focus on spectroscopy and dynamics on multiple potential energy surfaces covering different experimental and computational aspects such as vibronic interactions, conical intersection dynamics, photoisomerization, and photodissociation. Invited Speakers: Robert W. Field (MIT), Roseanne J. Sension (University of Michigan), John F. Stanton (University of Florida)

Chirality-Sensitive Spectroscopy

Organized by Yunjie Xu (University of Alberta) and Melanie Schnell (Max-Planck Institute)

Chirality is omnipresent in our daily life. Spectroscopic methods that can provide detailed stereochemical information of chiral molecules, such as enantiomeric excess, absolute configuration, and enantiomeric recognition, are thus of great importance and interest. In the last few years, a number of new spectroscopic techniques have been developed that allow for an chiral analysis in the gas phase with an unprecedented degree of precision. These new studies complement the well known chiroptical spectroscopic studies typically done in the condense phase. Invited Speakers: Rina Dukor (BioTools, Inc.), Laurent Nahon (Synchrotron SOLEIL), Patrick Vaccaro (Yale)

ALMA's Molecular View

Organized by Brett McGuire (NRAO) and Anthony Remijan (NRAO)

This mini-symposium will consist of discussions of laboratory, computational, and observational work at any wavelength/facility which support, complement, or directly involve spectroscopic observations with ALMA. Invited Speakers: Susanne Aalto (Chalmers University of Technology), Arnaud Belloche (Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie), Michael McCarthy (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics), Chunhua "Charlie" Qi (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics), Naoki Watanabe (Hokkaido University)
